It is hard to read exactly what is stamped on the tang. Can you post the markings on the blade ?
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

There was an Edward Barnes & Sons. They were a Sheffield cutler & razor manufacturer that were in existence in 1852.
GENUKI: Sheffield Directory, 1852, letters A and B
    Can't find anything informative though.

I kinda thought it was a sheffield from the blade and the shoulders.

    Just wanted to make sure.

    Thanks everyone.

This dirk has the same signature stamp as mine. It appears to be a very good find. Perhaps valuable. Some basic research reveals that this company supplied a US President with an inaugural dagger. This company was also just behind Wolstenholm in quality.

    From Encyclopedia:

12 years that is a short span of time. Wonder why. Could they not compete with Wolstenholm?
