    Default Mella Brand Razor Identification?

I have a 7/8" Mella Brand razor, and cannot identify the manufacturer or the year of manufacture. This razor lacks a country of origin stamp, which argues to me that it might be pre-1890. Or, it just might not have ever been sold outside the country of manufacture. It looks like a Solingen. The scales are cracked ice celluloid, the fancy worked back has red worked into the metal, and it is a super shaver, which rings like a bell when cutting hair or being stropped. Do any of you have either a similar razor or information about the maker? It is NOT a Jackknife Ben, as I first thought. His daughter was named Melba.
    Thanks in advance!

I can't tell you much, but I'd guess German, and almost for sure 20th century. Based on the picture of Mella it's from the mid to late 20's.

Sure is a pretty razor. Congrats.

    Mella 1915 to 1930

IIf it was not exported from Germany or the country of origin it may not have the country of origin stamped into the tang!

Thank you, gentlemen! The photo does look to be 1920's vintage, and I did not know that Mella brand existed from only 1915-1930. I am certain that this is a Solingen razor, and of top quality. So the mystery is ; who really made it? Alas, I probably will never know. There is a story behind this razor, and it is the reason that I could never sell it. The person who auctioned it on e-bay later e-mailed me that she only sold her Grandfather's razor in order to help pay for a lung transplant for her daughter. I felt terriible! I promised to take good care of it, and I have. Sometimes it is better not to know these things!
Good hunting, but do realize that your good fortune may be because of another's misfortune..!

I would be very interested to know if Boker made the Mella brand blades. What source did your information come from?
    Thank you.

Most likely, the razor was made by Ferdinand Neuhaus, Solingen in 1930s. Brand names: Ferd. Neuhaus, Herradura, La Suerte, Mein Glück, Neuhaus.
I couldn't find info, that this trademark was used by Boker.

As always, thank you for sharing your knowledge, Manah! The Mella question has been bothering me for years, and I can finally put it to rest.
