Thanked: 20DOVO Age?
I recently found a dovo special 1516 5/8 with tortoise scales at an antique shop. as it was fairly rusted its been my first resto-practice-learn to str8 shave blade. the paper with it has a number, I'm assuming serial 15617. Any idea of how old that puts this blade? I've emailed DOVO with no responce.
I'm loving it, feels good to take something old and forgotten, and not only learn to restore and repair it, but use it as well. I pretty much break rules all over the place. fun though
Thanks for all the good info here, I suspect I'll be learning a great many things

That NO# sounds rather recent to me. Not sure why.

The older ones I am familiar with have Fritz Bracht on the reverse tang. Newer production is good too though AFAIK.

Thanked: 20it shaves good for me so far, and that's all I really care about. mostly wondering out of curiosity. there is no way I'll ever be able to buy new. fortunately it is way easier to find and restore a razor than a woods knife.
