Thanked: 2what will give a `wapi`like shave but with more weight and better balance?
Hi All,
I have come some way since my first tragicomic experience with straights (http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...html)...Thanks for your support back then!
I just got a cheap NOS Wapi off ebay ($25) - and am fascinated by the shave. Completely different from my Livi Regrind. I don´t like the balance though...
So... to give me something to contemplate.... can anyone make a suggestion as to what razor I should be thinking of hunting down that is bigger (at least 6|8) and properly balanced AND has a Wapi-like shave feel?
I have an uneasy suspicion it might have to be a LeGrelot 1|4 grind (which will mean I will have to start working on brownie points at home )
Take Care,
Alex

Have you tried any dovos? The dovo special come in 6/8 and is great.
Kristoffer.

Thanked: 18my thought.
I love my wapi. your right it is as smooth as silk. i have a few razors that shave just as smooth. try to track down a wade and butcher meat chopper. i have a 8/8 wedge with barbers notch. shaves smoother than anything i have including the wapi. thats my suggestion

Thanked: 2thanks....
Thanks, All, for the great Food for Thought!
Kristoffer, I think that for the "Wapienica effect" I need a more wedge-like blade - so am not considering a "Hollow" Dovo, at least at the moment .... But am open to be convinced otherwise
Take care,
Alex

Dovo does make a quarter hollow... or is it a half hollow. I think I've seen it at vintagebladesllc.com as the "classic black."
If you want to try an older Sheffield wedge, I just threw a Greaves up in the classifieds. I'm not sure the styling is for everyone, though.Last edited by holli4pirating; 02-18-2009 at 11:40 PM.
