Thanked: 953off center blade closing
I've gotten two razor recently (CMON HF and Dubl Duck GE) off ebay that have the same problem.
In each case, the scales look unwarped, but the blade has to be guided into the scales or it closes on top of one side. In the CMON's case, I can tell that over time the scales have misaligned - ie the top of one is just below the top of the other side. My guess is that is causing the closing problem, amdn maybe the orginal pinning has wrenched it wrong over time - just guessing. The DD seems to be a loose pin issue - it wants to go dead center but will float if not guided.
Again, in both cases the scales look good, but a more expert eye might see something I'm missing . Is this ever an issue of the pinning just needing to be redone so the blade can be recentered? Or does this resolve itself as the thing is cleaned and oiled?

It never resolves itself.
Usually its caused by poor pinning or there is a warp in the scales. Of course the blade could be warped too but it would have to be pretty severe to cause that so that's unlikely. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

IME if the scales are misaligned at the top someone may have been overzealous in tightening a loose pin and overdid it. I was taught that tapping the pin on the side opposite where the point is coming to close will sometimes realign the blade to close in the center. Shoot Glen a PM and ask him as he could probably tell you for sure.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
