is 44/20 a dovo?
A Newby here. In my search to find a locally available straight razor in Winnipeg, MB, Canada I wound up with a local barber supply house that was able to sell me a new 44/20 (made in Germany) in a black plastic box with the generic Solingen sticker. I found the same razor online here - 4420 Products ( but for more than I paid for it). True to what I have been reading here, it required significant honing before it was "shave ready" and I have learned a lot with it in a few short weeks (and its a little smaller now!). Anyway, what I am wondering, is since it is an available "new" product being made in Germany (although marketed in North America under Economy Supply Co's 44/20 brand) is it in reality a Dovo?
Also kind of ironic, while googling the term 44/20 I found that it is a chapter and verse of the bible forbidding you to shave!!! Hmmm go figger.

Looks like it could be a rebranded Dovo.
It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled. Twain

Thanked: 1I have a 44/20 Economy Supply Co Model 900 (square point) - bought it new circa 1998 from a local barber supply. In my limited experience, I would say it might be a cousin or sibling to a *NEW* Fromm or C-mon or the like - that is, a barber supply level. If you Google new Fromms, they seem to resemble the new 44/20s, and are available from Beauty/Barber supply houses.
Like the new Fromms I've read about, this 44/20 was a bear to hone, especially for a complete novice like myself. But I did finally get there.
My recent experience (though bought in 1998, I did not hone or use it til just now. --Jonathan
