Thread: strange edge on my dovo....

Hey Gang..
i just noticed last nght as i was stroppoing before bed( ye gods, did i actualy just say that? oh i'm a goner fer sure) that while holding the razor in my left hand( natural lefty) that i can pop hair on my right arm... but when i reversed the blade,i couldn't cut a damn thing on my left arm.. have i rolled the edge some how? or is it mis-honed?

I am going to assume that you are doing everything exactly the same, on both arms, just in reverse....

If that is true, then it does sound like you might have an edge issue.....Now what that issue is I would be hesitant to say, doesn't make to much sense that it is a rolled edge if it is cutting so well on the one arm... I gotta do some pondering on that one, perhaps Lynn, or Randydance, has seen this before....

well, it was a little rough out of the box, i did do a pyramid on a japanese synthetic 1/5k, then about 100 laps on the leather, shave is good, but i'm not to sure of how a BBS should feel, may ned to grow the beard a bit and hit tle local barber. other than that, it's a sweet blade. only bit me once, and that was me being slightly distracted.

5K is kind of rough for a final without any kind of strop paste. I go to 8K then 0.5 chrome ox. 5K would be a little rough around the edges.

I agree with that. 5k would leave quite a toothy edge. I go up to a Thuringian or a Chinese 12k, then to dovo black paste before i strop.
