Oil 'Em
You bet! After shave, I carefull wipe the sides of the blade and after about 20 strops each of linen and Russian side of my Illinois 827 I apply a few drops of Albertson's generic baby oil spread on both sides of blade-CAREFULLY ( I have cut my fingers doing just this). I spread what is left over the tang and spine then slip the razor into one of my homemade leather pouches. If I had a good shave from the blade-it gets to sleep on the nightstand near my head at bedtime (am I over the top doing this? I don't think so). In a serious moment; my razors are vintage for the most part and I plan to keep them in good order for my son and his progeny OR for a better garage sale!...
