Thanked: 2PLEASE HELP TO IDENTIFY THIS RAZOR
Hello all,
i bought the following razor on EVILBAY, as stated on the ad it says 42 GARANTIE on 1 side on the other side of the tang it has a circle stamp of a "Stick man" one arm folded the other resting on a large vase or holding a large fish with what appears MADE IN GERMANY. No other markings.
The box it came with states HELMA razor supreme quality and WALD SOLINGEN.
i hope the pics can assist you experts on the make and any other history.

I can't be much help except to say that the Helma I own has Helma and Solingen stamped very prominently on the tang. I don't know whether earlier, later or different models did not.

Thanked: 2The man looks mysteriously like an early version of the Henckels logo... also from Solingen. Possible relation of the companies? Maybe the logo has some historical significance in the town... I don't know. Good luck finding some more info, I was just throwing out an idea.

It looks like the Paul Kohl Fisher Works logo. See the thread in this forum.

Mine is a great shaver! Yours could eventually be too, but it has a "Frowny Edge" and uneven honewear on the spine. I think that one of the experts on this forum, or Lynn Abrams, might be able to to correct this and reset the bevel so it is straight. Let's see what others have to say. I don't have the honing skill to do this myself.

Nice cleanup job! Everything that I have looked up on this one comes back in German. Many of these razors were made from German steel back then, as apposed to Sheffield steel. Sorry I don't have more. If I could read German, I would probably be up on this.
