    Default Interesting Antique store find

I found, and no I do not have pics, a very small razor named after a lizard. The weird thing is that it is a full wedge and the blade is only about 3/16 to 1/4" from spine to blade.

The scales are small so I know it was not ground down. Is this some kind of a shavette from the olden days?

CarrieM has a very small... Robeson I think it was. I mean, this is a tiny blade.

When she showed it to me, she said she thought it may have been a corn razor. Or maybe they were designed for mustache trimming, under-arm shaving, or some other delicate task.

Its most likely a sculpting razor. I have one right now and I actually sold a Dovo sculptor a few months back. They are for beard trimming. There are also small wedge blades that were made by a compnay called Salamander and I sold one of those too on ebay. THe blade was 2 inches long and was about 43-4/8 wide. I didnt like it because it was too small. But this could be the brand you have.

It was a Salamander. I almost bought it cause it was neat but I said nah i'm gonna wait for either a W & B or a Japanese str8.

I have a Robeson like that. I've never honed it up or shaved with it, but it's stashed in one my my boxes somewhere. Interesting razor. I think the one I have is for precision work rather than being a corn razor (for trimming corns on the feet); I've seen some of those razors and they are very very small.
