Thanked: 398Dovo SS Micarta
Does anyone here own one of these razors and if so how would you rate it?

I got the black scaled version, very nice shaver but very hard to hone initially but once sharp holds it edge quite well

Thanked: 278I agree with above.
Mine has a slightly warped blade making the bevel uneven, and the scales are not tight enough to stop the blade moving. But those problems are not a property of the design.
What I will say is this razor is by far the hardest of mine to strop. The scales are thick. The shank is thick. And the scales on mine move out of position since they are loose. It just feels really clumsy when stropping.
I still like it though! Time to buy myself a ball-peen hammer and sort it out I think.

Thanked: 4942I believe this is one of the Better Shavers that Dovo makes and they are pretty easy to hone.
Have fun,
Lynn

Thanked: 335I got a used one a while back because I thought the concept of impervious scales was good and the pictures looked good. I shaved with it a couple of times and retired it. It should probably go on as a gift to some new shaver who has patience and big fingers. The blade is not centered well and the scales are really clunky - much too thick and the rivets stick out too much. The blade shaves just fine, but it reminds me of making a peanut butter sandwich by first taking a whole loaf of bread and slicing it in half, lengthwise down the middle: the proportions are way off.
Other than that it's fine, just fine.

Thanked: 4942The micarta scales are usually fine and a little pin tightening takes care of floppiness (recommended). All in all a really good razor. The only problem I have heard is similar to the one expressed here. The larger rounded handles just are not for some people. I had a friend who just couldn't shave with one, yet he did fine on a razor with a thin plastic set of scales.

Mine shaves like a charm. Of course it's still freshly honed by Lynn, but so far a wonderful shaver. I agree, the scales may be too large for some, but I happen to think it is well balanced and feels great in my hand. I would go for the buy!
