    Question Hooked

I just started using a straight and spent a small fortune buying everything to do it with. After spending a few weeks reading and learning as much as possible I'm starting to see pictures of other straights and saying to myself "That one is nice, I like that one and this one and the other one".

Is this the beginning of an addiction? Am I going to start collecting? Has anyone new to straight razors gone through this?

RAD (razor acquisition disorder), HAD (hone acquisition disorder), SAD (strop or soap acquisition disorder) are not uncommon infections on this board. Highly infectious, you know you have them when you take it for granted that something else new-to-you will arrive each day in the mail and you get the shakes on days that nothing comes. You will finally start to come to your senses when you realize you own 30 razors you still have not shaved with. This is in addition to the 20 that you do shave with.

Whatever you do, don't visit Max's site. I own 3 of his razors now.

Your addiction is normal. The thing to do is this though. Get the razors you like, then each time you buy one, sell one until you get your 7 or 14 days set that is perfect. This is what I have been doing at times and sometimes its not the blades you think that give you the best shave.
    Good Luck!
