Thanked: 235It started out as a good day.
Like I said, it started out as a good day. I was getting a great shave from my new Wade and Butcher that came from ebay when my shave was interupted in a good way. A parcel arrived. Another old razor from ebay which I was planning to clean up. I finished my shave (Wade and Butcher hollow ground did a great job), went upstairs and opened my parcel. Thats when things started to go bad.
The Wright and Wilhelmy Co razor with a beautiful barbers notch and a thumb notch which I was looking forward to lovingly cleaning up had a dirty big crack. And its right at the end next to the tang. So the razor is useless. I thought at least I could use the black celluloid scales, but I broke these when I was removing the blade.
The razor didn't even come in a razor box, so I don't even have a box to show for my money.
So now I have to throw the razor and the broken scales in the bin.

Everyone buys a dog now & then. It's a good idea to ask the seller about chips & cracks, but in the excitement of a last minute find they can slip through the net!
How far does the crack extent towards the spine? I've seen some great modifications to overcome this. I'll try to find a photo.

Thanked: 235The crack extends about a quarter of an inch towards the spine and then curves towards the toe of the blade. Any restoration of this blade will be beyond my skills. I will post a photo of it as soon as I can and if anyone wants it I will give it away for the cost of postage.

Thanked: 235here is a picture of the blade. I have circled the crack to make it easier to see.
If anyone is up to the challenge I will gladly pass it on to you for the cost of postage.

Done! How much is postage? Before you hand it out, do consider that that can be modified into a shaver. You'd have to grind a section of heel away though.

Thanked: 235send me your address in a PM and I'll find out what postage will cost. I'm not sure how much to England, but to the US it would cost about $3.00 USD.
