    Default Looking for info

I picked up a Muschel straight while travelling, just wondering if there is anyone with some info on this brand? It is marked "Muschel, Reg. Germany with a picture of what looks like a shell on the front. and Solengen on the rear. Thanks in advance!

welcome, I'm moving your thread to the Razor section where it will probably fit better.
there are way too many brands and labels of razors. most stuff from solingen is good and after honed it should shave pretty well.

Muschel does not appear in the Standard Guide to Razors 3rd edition. Pretty much can't go wrong with anything Solingen as long as it's vintage and not some new razor with Solingen printed on it just to fake out those who don't know.. Only way to know if it's any good is to hone it up and shave it.

Thanks for the info gugi and kenneyty. It definitely looks like it is vintage, and I know that Solengen is well known for their blades of all types. I have already soaked it in Scrubbing Bubbles and scrubbed it with a toothbrush. Any suggestions on further cleaning the blade, I have some Maas that I will try tomorrow. I found a thread somewhere, I think here, that listed it as a brand that was produced by what eventually became Dovo under many different names for various companies. I am not a straight user, but have always thought they were cool, and for the price I just had to get it. Thanks again!

yes another potential addict to straight razor shaving, you might like it with some patience and practice, my straights shave way better than my de razors or the shick quattro i used to use plus my face feels a lot better after a shave than before i tried using a straight
