Question Have you ever heard of a razor brand/manufacturer EL PASTOR?

I noticed that someone is selling a razor which has the words EL PASTOR stamped on the shank.

I haven't found any info on the web or on this forum.

Has anyone heard of this EL PASTOR, is it any good?

It would help to know who is selling the razor and a pic if at all possible.

Most ebay people have a rep, but if it is local then that may help to.

Here's a picture of the razor. The seller is not on ebay. Silver steel is mentioned in the description.

    "EL PASTOR" = "THE SHEPHERD"

Looks Spanish to me. There was lots of Spanish brands in the old days, so that might be one of them.

Just looking at it I can say this.

It is not English and it dates from 1850 forward.

Not English because of the way the tang meets the blade, almost looks German, like my Dovo.

1850 because of the straight scales, possibly horn and the modest tail. The older straights had a very stumpy tail and dead straight scales. That is a generalization.

Just because the name is Spanish doesn't make it Spanish.

Nice looking blade though. Tell us how it shaves.

BTW a quick Google reveals that Dovo and Boker were both made with Silver Steel. So maybe it is German.

Is there a tree or a little man stamped on it?

Haven't bought it yet, but maybe I will.

Found some german site containing brand names, and found that
El Pastor = Richard Abr. Herder, Solingen
