Thanked: 0Thoughts on this razor...
Hey all,
New around here, been reading around for a few days and finally decided to post, hope this is the right place. Anyways looking at buying a razor (been using a shavette for awhile now) and was wondering what your expert opinions on this guy were:
Potential shaver? yay or nay? Thanks in advance

It's a keeper ! I wouldn't use any kind of abrasive or polish on the gold plated etch on the blade . Soap and water only , and don't rub too hard . Too bad about the crack in the scale , but I could live with it . If you don't want it PM me
.

Thanked: 0The etching should be ok when honed because of the hollow blade correct? Sorry for the newbie question just want to make sure

Yes , the hone won't touch the etching , unless you let the razor slide off the end of the hone by mistake
. I always lift the edge up off the hone at the end of the stroke to prevent that from happening
. BTW , welcome to the forum ! You've found the right place
PS , don't be shy to ask questions we were all newbs once .

Good Sheffield steel by a reputable Maker in Very Good shape overall.Has potential but I would worry about that scale crack. It could very well break off when stropping. You might want to consider contacting one of the restorers in the classifieds and get an opinion from them. One of them could re-scale and professionally hone it up for you.I think Floppyshoes is in Montreal. He does real nice work.

looks like a good razor, and I would definately send it to someone on here to be honed.
was gonna ask who made it but the last picture loaded.
Looks good, I'd buy it.Last edited by flampen85; 03-10-2009 at 01:28 AM.
