Default I've moved to straight razor shaving!

Ive just purchased a bunch of items to start straight razor shaving, thought i'd give a list so i could get all your expert feedback.

    Here goes..

    • Dovo, ebony, carbon steel, 5/8 hollow grind full razor, honed and shave ready
    • sliver tip badger brush
    • russian type strop with canvas backing
    • truefitt and hill sandalwood shaving cream
    • Castle forbes sandalwood aftershave balm
So what you guys think? need any thing else?

Sounds like you dove right in. For just shaving, you've got plenty. If you're going to get into blade maintenance, you might want to consider a barber hone and/or pasted strop.

Some folks recommend getting a second razor as backup, in case you damage yours and have to send it out for repairs or need to send it out to be honed. That's a judgment call.

    Smile Welcome, Rick

heh, that's a pretty good start. You might consider stopping now before things get out of hand.

The Dovo ebony carbon steel was my first straight too, still one of my faves! Looks like your set!

    Sounds like a good starter-kit.
I agree with holli4pirating, it is smart to have a back-up razor.
    Just watch out for RAD.
