lookin' for my first str8
Been wetshaving for about 6 months (merkur 1903 DE) and have gotten the str8 itch. Spent the past 3 days glued to the computer on an ebay auction only to lose at the last second. Screw that; rather discouraging. I would like some advice on what to buy new, or if any members have advice on a razor they have for sale. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Plan on getting the hones and everything in the near future, but right now I just want a good razor that I can have honed and get started shaving.

Your best bet is to check the razors in the classifieds section of SRP. Everyone here has a reputation to protect and the members here are as friendly as they can be.
It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled. Twain

I'd agree that the classifieds are a good place to start. I would also suggest avoiding ebay until you're confident in your ability to tell which razors are good, which can be made good, and which are bad.

I bought my 1st razor in the classifieds here and was not disappointed. Ebay can be tough. Usually any razor worth buying is going to have competition. Some fall through the cracks but not very many at all. I have seen better deal in the classifieds here. (what I mean is razors in better condition that sold for less than on the Bay)

I agree. I have purchased razors on the classifieds here and they're always very good shavers. Just make sure they say shave ready so you can strop it up and use it when it arrives.

Thanked: 156Classifieds is a great place. Probably THE best. Ebay stings some times and you strike gold some times. I'm batting about 50/50.

+1 with the classifieds. You just can't go wrong. You can't go wrong with Kenrup either. Very starter sets at an exceptional price. Check in the Vendors Corner for him...
