    Default Microtome or bad grind?

I look at it one day and curse myself for buying it. Then I look at it the next and think, maybe its just a wedge with a bad grind. So I'm posting pictures so everyone can take a look and contribute their 2 cents as to what the this razor is.

edit: any way to make this a poll?

Looks like more of a bad grind.

    Its a Micro.

Look at the 3rd pic. See how the back on the right side of the blade is straight and the left side is curved.

Yeah could be a bad pic. The other way to tell is to look at the back of the blade. In the front it will look like all other razors, the tang stops at the blade, the back, well the tang should go all the way to the tip no stopping.

I kind of lean toward it being a microtome too. Here is a post with some photos of my Puma microtome for comparison. Of course the one side is full hollow but the flat side does have a slight concavity. I managed to put an edge on mine using three pieces of tape only on the wedge side and shave with it. Same boat that you're in. It was either that or eat $50.00. If you try honing it you will have to experiment with how many layers of tape to use on the flat side. I've had a few good shaves out of mine and I'm glad I bothered with it.

Yeah, I'm leaning back towards microtome too. I just can't believe how honkin' huge the thing is. I mean, its really really big. I cannot imagine cutting samples with it. Its an axe, not a precision instrument.

Either case, someone was adventurous enough to take it off my hands.
