Thanked: 0Help with razor?
Can anyone tell me anything about this razor? It is a folding straight razor. The handle, which looks like it might be some sort of plastic, is yellow now but might have been red at one time as there are remains of red coloring on it. One side of the handle is plain but the other has a raised floral design on it with a buck deer of some sort. The blade is stamped in four lines:
Imperial Razor
Warranted
Registered 20507
Germany
The blade is etched as a commemorative to Admiral Dewey and his defeat of the Spanish fleet at Manila Bay in May of 1898.
The box it is in is marked "Oxford Razor Co. Price $3.00"
Would this be the right box for this razor? Both the razor and the box are obviously old.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me.Last edited by cesample; 03-16-2009 at 02:43 AM. Reason: To add picture

Thanked: 156That razor is salvagable, but damn it needs a ton of work. Scales might be worth $3.00 though.

Welcome to SRP. The box and razor are mismatched. There are collectors of scales (handles) who might pay good money for the decorative scales in spite of the damage to the blade. It would need some blade restoration to get it to shave ready. Not worth what it would cost to do unless it has sentimenatl value to you or if you could do it yourself. All of the above IMHO.
If you are interested in shaving with a straight take a look at the SRP Wiki here. Many tutorials on all things straight razor related to start you in the right direction.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
