Ebay razor Grinded
This is just let you know .Recently i have noticed ebay seller sells razor which has been done grinding on the blade.Blade looks like shiny ,nice but when you start to hone you meet hell. Please this is not complaining on my side .i post this just to help you guys not to make mistakes in future.when you buy razor ask questions from the seller.it will help you to understand what are you buying it.
This blade had such a bad grinding job done it took me 3 hours just try to make a little same level back of the blade.i don't have any thing to grind blade and i did it just by honing.
I don't know is anyone has similar experience or not but this blade didn't have equial amount of the steel in the back of the blade.front had less steel then back side of the blade.this wasn't just the problem. In same side blade had more steel in the middle then tip and heel.
Hone this blade is similar to digging the ground with spoon to make ........
I will leave to the owner of the blade to reveal seller's name or not.
Again i put this thread just let you guys to know how to buy blade. It is not just shiny blade is the best option.
MY 0.02 cents
Bud

Actually, I have noted that with a few razors myself. I just chalked it up to a few bad sales, but your thread makes me wonder.

It sounds to me , that the blade is/was badly warped . Now and then I get some "dogs" off ebay , that's how it goes sometimes . I don't waste my time on warped blades . I got a W&B Bow razor blade off ebay once , and tried to hone it . After a few hours of honing on a 1k hone I realized it was so badly warped , that if I ever did straighten it out I wouldn't have much of a blade left , so I threw it away .

Historically we conduct ourselves with a delicate decorum and rigid code in relation to voicing any displeasure with items purchased through SRP sold by other SRP members.
I see little to no reason to "keep the code" in regard to Ebay sellers. If an Ebay seller happens to be an SRP member that member could offer a rebuttal to a claim of misrepresented or non-disclosure of defective items.
"Shave Readiness" to a degree is subjective. If a razor has clearly suffered from a failed attempt at a regrind, polished up and sold as if it hadn't been damaged that way, such a defect IMO should be reported or publicized to other SRP members. I have no sympathy for Ebay sellers that do not fully disclose issues with items, especially razors. I regard SRP as being a place where we look out for each other. Honestly if I bought an Ebay razor that suffered from a bad amateurish regrind and another SRP member or multiple members said "Oh yeah, I got screwed by that seller before but decided not to say anything" after the fact, I'd be quite bummed and even a little irritated.
So, Bud, thank you for even bringing such a thing up. I'd really like to know the name of the seller to at least proceed with caution in the event I was ever interested in bidding on razors from the seller.

Thanked: 735Yes, it happened to me too with this razor. The temper was ruined. The blade had a rough sanded look, and had obviously had a dremel sand job done on it. Luckiliy it was only like $12 or so. But as you can see, I did invest quite a bit of time reworking the blade before hitting the hone and finding out it was junk.
C'est la vie...

I had a blade come to me recently that had been made "shave ready" by a knife grinder. The best I can describe it is to say it had a double frown with a tooth in the middle. It must have been done on a 1 inch belt. Needless to say it took a while to reset the bevel.

Thanked: 3164I have noticed that the temper has been destroyed on some particularly clean looking blades. These were machine-finished with rotary steel brushes and sold as 'not shave ready' - so, asking questions first rather than later is a good course to take.

It's curious and of concern although not surprising that more and more razors seem to be appearing on Ebay from more repeat razor sellers. Flash back even one year ago or more and Ebay has always had the single razor sale from someone who knows nothing about razors and you had a handful of the Razor power sellers (Altima55, Philotrix, Mr. Berens, etc) and that's it.
It's different now. More people are jumping on the razor selling bandwagon. Nothing wrong with that as long as they're not misrepresenting, withholding information or otherwise exploiting the razor buying public.
As a closeknit collective I really feel like we should have an area or add to the Ebay forum with some sort of tagline alert in any event that any one of us get a crappy or misrepresented razor off Ebay we should not hesitate to post about it and most certainly name the seller in the post. We're here to help each other out plain and simple. If an Ebay seller finds their way here and has a dispute about the SRP members allegations, they're welcome to rebut the allegations in that thread.
Come on guys, I'd be miffed if I bought a razor that was a POS and found out that other members were also stuck but didn't say anything about it.
They can list, but they can't hide IMO.
