It's got no hint at a shoulder and the tang blends in to the blade. I'd bet pre-1800, but no later than 1810. Nice stuff!

I agree about the age of those neat OLD razors. The tangs, iron pins, blade and scale shape are all tells. What absolutely amazes me is the great condition of the wood. Someone took good care of these, unlike many old wrecks we see from time to time. How do they shave?
    Thank you for posting these!

Very nice! It hadn't occured to me that before the advent of celluloid, most razors were scaled in wood. And I do like the simple single pin designs, thanks for posting.

Wood, horn, and bone were all popular; there was some tortoise and ivory as well, but that would have been on the pricier blades. I still prefer black horn and bone to most scale materials.

To be honest , I haven't shaved with any of them . I have plenty of other razors to shave with , and I would rather keep these old razors unused . I am happy you guys like the pics ! And thank you Croaker , for the historical info about Sheffield you have given us .
