My woodies
Here are pics of my old Sheffields that have , what I believe to be thier original wooden scales . Pic #1 W&B wedge . Pic #2 , Colley & Co. , 98 Arundel St. Pic #3 , Merit Pic #4 , I can't make out the tang stamp , the blade is in bad shape but I believe this razor may date to 1820 or earlier . Hope you all enjoy them .Greetings , from Dundalk , Maryland . The place where normal people , fear to go .

It's got no hint at a shoulder and the tang blends in to the blade. I'd bet pre-1800, but no later than 1810. Nice stuff!

I agree about the age of those neat OLD razors. The tangs, iron pins, blade and scale shape are all tells. What absolutely amazes me is the great condition of the wood. Someone took good care of these, unlike many old wrecks we see from time to time. How do they shave?
Thank you for posting these!

Thanked: 20Very nice! It hadn't occured to me that before the advent of celluloid, most razors were scaled in wood. And I do like the simple single pin designs, thanks for posting.
