Thanked: 1How do you shave with this!!??
Gentlemen,
This is my first thread. I have read with great enthusiasm many threads here of all kinds of different subjects and, I am hooked!! I will start shaving with the straight razo next weekr as I sent it to the US to have it professionaly honed (yes, by one of you). I have bought the strap, scattle, brush and all my items after carefully reading all your input. Thank you all for that!!
Surfing through Ebay I found this razor:
Collectible Handcrafted Straight Razor~Deer Horn Handle - eBay (item 310130043957 end time Mar-28-09 12:30:00 PDT)
How the hell do you shave with this? Was it made for shaving or as an ornament? It certainly wins top prize for originality though. Funny, can you imagine placing the razor next to your sideburn to start shaving? You will actually look like you have a horn (cornuto!!)

People will go to great lengths to make a buck, pun intended.
Welcome to the fold.

Well... it's interesting! Personally I don't think I would shave with it but that's just me! It looks just as functional if it had Mr. Hankey scales!

"handcrafted in the Ozarks" - looks like someone wanted to make scales from deer horns and were too lazy to finnish them

So the actual edge rests on antler inside the groove? Sounds like a recipe for disaster.

That blade must be knackered! It rests on it's edge. Shaving would be the easy bit. Imagine trying to flip that while you strop. You'd get impaled.

Thanked: 7How?
By throwing the horn away, and putting it in a decent set of scales.
