    Default 6/8+ Wedge Razor Recommendation

I would much appreciate your suggestions based on your own personal experience with blades of that size and grind type. After trying several type of blades (not wedge or 1/4 hollow yet), I realised that full hollow and extra follow are definitely not for me, so I want to go to a large wedge (I just love 6/8's and larger blades). Which one would you suggest? Should I go custom or TI Le Grelot is ok? How about other manufacturers?

Also, does anyone has any experience of the DOVO 7/8 Full Hollow French point? I know that it does not fill in the category I have described above, but I do not know if the size and weight of its blade can suit my needs.

You don't mention vintage wedges. I really recommend you try one before you outlay a load of money on a new TI, let alone a custom. You may find that you like the stiffness of a wedge even less than the others.
I've got a Friodur 7/8 hollow & they have no weight on them compared to my 6/8 wedge, so if it's weight you're after, wedges are the way to go!

Well, I did not mention any of the vintage wedges, cause till now I have not found anything that cheap that would justify my preference over a new TI (Le Grelot e.g. costs 129 Euros). Do you have anything in mind? Could you direct me to any potential vintage razor buys?

If you want a custom wedge Joe Chandler is hard to beat. Get one while you can, they won't be there long.
Thanks for the info, but I find these razors quite overpriced. I mean I could buy a new (made from scratch) custom with exotic material scales for 50$ less. I appreciate your interest though.

If you're going to lay out $200+ for a production razor, I'd just suck it up and spend the extra for a custom. Do any of the manufacterers really make wedges anymore?

If you want a wedge and see a big Wostenholm IXL for sale in the classifieds or at any of the other sites (I've seen a couple at theinvisibleedge.com) grab it and don't look back. My favorite razor by far is a 7/8 IXL wedge. Love that thing. Wickedly sharp, slight curve, smooth as silk. I seriously can't say enough good things about that razor.

    Pics here.

Not too pretty, because when it got here I was so curious to see how she shaved that I disinfected, honed, and shaved with it that night.

You just have to keep alert for the vintage wedges. They come up in the classifieds & the bay. I've got a nice little W&B 5/8 that's real heavy for it's size. Needs new scales & a hone up though & i've not had time. They are out there. Joe Chandlers aren't overpriced. Imagine the work that goes into them. They aren't cheap, but that's different. I'm guessing you're referring to RW as the cheaper alternative? If so, he does offer exceptional value. I have no idea how he manages to produce such quality for the price!

Thanks again for the info. Yeap, I was referring to RW. He is just great, not only when it comes to quality and prices, but to customers service as well.

+1 ! I have to agree with that.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
