Default DOVO "Ready for Use" A new model?

I saw this DOVO at knifecenter.com:

    Has anyone tried this one?

I know that DOVO and TI claim that their razors are shave-ready from the factory, but since it's etched on the blade, maybe they mean it this time.

It would be nice if when the new guys ask "What is a good first razor?" we could just say "Get a DOVO Ready for Use and a strop and you're set."

I think it's a good looking razor for $55 anyway.

My guess is that it will not come shave ready. My first razor was a DOVO, not this model, and the website said that it would come ready to use. Unfortunately, it did not come shave ready and my friend had to hone it for me. You will probably have to send it out to be honed by a professional, unless you want to try honing it yourself.

Hmm, I thought dovo 300 was 1" wide, may be these are the fritz bracht ones only. actually wouldn't be the first time - I had no.41 which was 3/16 narrower than the current production - so ungerman of Dovo....

Default I bought one. It's my third razor and without any doubt at all, the very best.

Bought it off eBay for £40 six weeks ago and it's the first razor I turn to. I really don't understand why there is all this fuss over whether or not a razor is 'shave ready' straight out of the box. Apart from anything, you don't know how long it's been in the box, but in any event, you'd normally strop before you shave so maybe I'm missing something.

I put this on a 12000 stone for 100 strokes each side, then 100 up then flip then down and haven't needed to do anything except strop it since then, usually on a towel which is mainly because my stop hangs on the bathroom door and I'm too lazy to walk over there. The towel works fine. This is a heavy razor, much heavier than the 5/8 Dovo I bought 2 weeks ago which is nowhere near as good. I'd recommend this to anyone. Just wish I could find another at that price.

It seems very peculiar to me they would put something like that on the blade.

Besides, it says 'ready for use" but it doesn't say use for what, does it?

Geofatboy has a video where he addresses the same question. He opens a new Dovo from the box, lathers and shaves. He says he and the Dovo Rep were in a meeting. The Dovo Rep emphasized that all new Dovo razors manufactured in 2014 will leave the factory shave ready. I guess we will wait and see if it's true.

The term shave ready is so individual... Although I appreciate someone trying to nail down a maker to what exactly they are selling. Both my new Dovos were bevel set but nothing past that . Were they shave ready? Yes. Were they comfortable? Not at all.

My friends was shaving for 2 years with his factory edge dovo. He was also stropping with the spine off the leather. I don't understand how he ed still shaving. I got him sorted out now though.
