wouldn't get it... you can find these in good shape for very little if you look long enough.
as far as your specific questions for evaluation:
you will probably pay a bit more to get this one honed b/c of the chip.. but this depends on the honemeister.
The honewear looks ok, but the blade has some nasty scratches near the toe... I say red lightLast edited by Del1r1um; 04-01-2009 at 02:48 AM.

Thanked: 156Not worth it imo. Too much cleaning up and honing required. Knock off $20 and I'd think about it. But the blade is rather small looking.

Thanked: 2204That nick is a deal killer. Without the nick I would pay max $10 shipped.

Thanked: 23If you're partial to henckels and love the way they shave, might be worth it to you. Not to me though.
Talk then down to $20, when they know that you're actually going to use it are not just a collector, their mind changes a little bit.
This would be a good piece to learn to hone on if you're interested in learning.Last edited by rosscollins3; 04-01-2009 at 03:41 AM.

How about we assume I bargain it down to say.... $25? Still not worth it? I guess not cus of the 20$ hone I'd be paying for.

Thanked: 156Definitely do not buy it if you can't hone out the chip yourself. Its not a $20 fix. All honemeisters will charge you extra for that chip. And for good reason. Chips take a lot of time, add another $10-20 to that $20 honing charge and thats about what it'll cost to get it shave ready. That does not even take into account the polishing and cleaning the blade will require. $45 may get it restored by a semi professional. So your looking at minimum $65 razor just to get it shave ready.

Thanked: 22I concur. If you can get it for $10 or $15 it might be worth buying and putting away until you have the skills to fix it yourself, but at $45 I wouldn't touch it with a flamethrower.
