Wapienica II - Scale colors?
Hey, gang.
I've seen the Wapienica II razor with it's newer plastic scales and it's round point, and I'm liking it for a first razor. Initially I was considering the original, but the stainless steel scales are so distinctive that I'm reevaluating my choice. Most razors have plastic, bone or wood scales, while vintage tends to have celluloid or bakelite. Starting with plastic scales seems logical.
If muscle memory and good technique are so important to stropping, it seems to me the same principle would be in play with shaving technique, at least partially. So despite the inherent uniqueness of steel scales, I'm leaning toward the market standard in weight.
That being said, all I've seen are the fire engine red scales. What other colors are plastic scales of the Wapi II available in?
I'd like to buy from Ken at Ruprazor, but all I see at his site are the originals. If he offers the Wapi II, I don't see them listed. I'd like to know color options and price.

Thanked: 156Actually, I've seen more horn scales than bakelite. Sorry about not being able to help with the color options.

Well, I guess I need to edit this post.
Despite the Wapienica II review from December '08, Ken doesn't carry the Wapi II, at least not anymore, so scale color is kinda academic at this point.
Does anyone know a reputable source for the Wapi II?

x2.
I have a Wapi too. Isn't being distinctive good? Since getting into this I've been looking at lots and lots of razors, but so far have only seen 2 for sale with metal scales (the Wapi and a Dovo). I wonder why there aren't more about tbh. Its not like its much heavier. Its pretty durable (I can't imagine it would ever crack unless you took a hammer to it), and when polished looks pretty niceLast edited by MisterZadir; 04-08-2009 at 12:49 PM.
