    Default James Barlow&sons- Echo

I picked this one up last week at an arms &armour fair at Bisley.
I've never come across a blade quite like this its a full hollow very short blade with a long tang. It did have some writing on the back of the blade that was done in some kind of black ink ,unfortunately removing this when I cleaned the blade showed up some pitting underneath the ink. it has no hone ware at all.So I am wondering if it was a salesmans pattern mode l(because of the writing).
Can anyone shed any light on this please.?
here are the pictures ,the other razor is a Kropp 5/8 for comparison.

James Barlow manufactured razors and knives in Sheffield from 1828-1856 per Goin's Encyclopedia of Cutlery Markings. Yours must have been one of the later hollow ground razors. I have a James Barlow razor, but it is a heavy 6/8 wedge blade. Good steel and took a nice edge. Yours should be a close and smooth shaver-great find!

Reminds me of the De Pew's Patent without the extremely long 'monkey tail'. Nice!
