Thread: James Barlow&sons- Echo

I picked this one up last week at an arms &armour fair at Bisley.
I've never come across a blade quite like this its a full hollow very short blade with a long tang. It did have some writing on the back of the blade that was done in some kind of black ink ,unfortunately removing this when I cleaned the blade showed up some pitting underneath the ink. it has no hone ware at all.So I am wondering if it was a salesmans pattern mode l(because of the writing).
Can anyone shed any light on this please.?
