Razor find
So I found a lot of razors advertised in an antique store about an hour from where I live, without pictures. Before I trek out there, would any of these be worth it? I realise we need pics, but I'm not even familiar with brands...
a few frederick reynolds
a joseph smith and sons
a george butler
a boker
2 le coultres
an ekilstuna
"IXL"
a few SPIKES
Thanks for any help!
Also, even if I can't afford all of them if they're good, what are the odds each could be resold on ebay or to members or given away?

Without a doubt, they are worth a look. If you had pictures, we could help put some values on them.
There are some very good names there.

So if I drove out, took pictures of good ones, and drove out again, it would be worth my time and gas?

There are some very good makers there. They could be an amazing haul, or they could be junk. Can't they send you some photo's, to save the drive?

How much are they asking for them ? Go on ebay and go to the straight razor category. Do a search for the individual named razors and then in the column on the left click on completed items. You'll get an idea of what they have been bringing on ebay. I would like a Joseph Smith but with razors condition is more important then the maker.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

They are asking different amounts for different lots.
They sent some pictures. Jimmy- the Joseph Smith looks like it's in pretty decent shape, and has a date etched on the scale- Dec. 9th, 1857! I dunno if that is a scam or not. It's the one on the left. The scale etchign is apparently on the otherside, but legible on this side of the tang is Joseph Smith, the Celebrated Razor. The one on the right is a reynolds btw.

I would be interested in the Joseph Smith. The other one has too much blade wear for me. If you want to buy the Smith and resell it PM me and let me know what you would want for it. Maybe we could come to an agreement.

I will do it purely to help you out... not for profit. I just don't know when I'll be making the trip to the store. Those two razors are advertised as a lot. I'll try and buy the one seperate, but we'll see how things go.

Thanked: 156I'm interested in the FRs if you end up going down there. What are they asking for each of the lots? $15 and under per razor, I'll take them all! :P
