    Default Goedecke & Cle?

I picked up one of these today because it is a barbers notch and it is a 6/8. I had never heard of it, but it is Solingen steel.

A quick Google revealed that they were made between 1900 and 1925. It has a stamp of a stereotypical "Chinaman" in profile and the number 44 stamped on the back.

What a fine looking razor! It should clean up very nicely, and looks like it will be a good shaver too. The Chinaman's head profile is well struck. Frankly, I envy you this great acquisition! Please post "after" pics when you get it fixed up and shave ready, when you can. Thanks for posting, and I will be on the lookout for another "Chinaman" for myself.

Interesting blade! It has a chinaman on a solingen blade with the French word for Company on it!

Yeah I thought that was odd too. I am glad that you brought that up. I thought the name sounded French. It could be an Alsatian company? That logo is odd though.

Yes it did clean up very nicely last night with some Mass. I need to get the water stains out. Probably some white or green polish.

The store I went to had a Helgestrand frameback and a Case Temperite spike.

My oldest son went with me and he made the final choice. He accompanies me on all my razor expeditions.

After some digging I discovered this about Goedecke.

They made safety razors primarily in the early 1900s. They were distributed by Klaas and oddly enough they are German. The correct name of the company is GOEDECKE AND CIE G M B H.
