Yes, I have had the same experience.
I think its when you develop the perfect "fin" on the blade.
Yes, I know, that no such thing exists.
Incidentally, you can develop that "fin" on any decent finishing hone.
When you hit it, you hit it and it ain't got anything to do with grit size.
