Thread: Information on a brand

Hello: I am new to straight razor shaving so your help would be appreciated. I am currently looking at a razor that has the name Jat co, Solingen on it. It also says finest quality on the blade. Has anyone heard of this brand?

Sorry I do not. It is at a estate auction that is happening tomorrow. It is hollow ground and has 3 pins in the handle. There is a similar one pictured on EBay.

I think it may be a comany from India? Any information on the quality of blades from India?

Only thing I know about india blades is most guys wont hone them.
If you get what I mean. But if you can get it cheap and has nice scales
like wood or bone then you can salvage the scales for a future restor.
but then again might be a good str8. Try to get it cheap then post pics
some one will know the maker on here.

Why would you think it's from India? It says Solingen right on it...

And Broncobob, what Indian blades are you talking about? The only Indian reference I've read around here are the "Finest India Steel" blades from England, and by all reports they're great shavers.

Unless, and I hope I'm wrong here, you're talking about Pakistan? They are different countries...

I believe it is from India because all of the searching I do with reference to BAT seems to bring up companies or sites from India. Is it possible that it is a German razor made for a Indian Co? Like I stated earlier I am a newbie, hope I didn't offend anyone.
