Etching design preferences
Hi.
What are your preferences and taste concerning the etching of the blade?
Do you like it simple or fancy?
In gold or other strong colors or in plain silver?
What themes do you like? Antique/vintage or modern?
Personally I like the "Sello de Oro" of the Filarmonicas. I also fancy most of the Thiers-Issard etchings.

I like both fancy and simple, as long as the etching is tasteful and clean. I do not like gold though... leave it silver for me.

For me, the fancier the blade decoration, the better! No gold, though. I like nice script, ornate borders, and different colors.

I'm not fond of etching and certainly not gold wash. If anything, something simple like "Celebrated Hollow Ground" that we often see on the old W&B's or something like that. Something nostalgic might catch me.

I like a worked spine but otherwise for a razor in daily use the plainer the better.

I like ETCHING!
Fancy is probably my top like..
Plain is good also.
I like silver..Gold wash always comes off in use.
Is there a way to protect the gold wash?

I'm with X on this one. I don't like fancy etchings at all, but I don't mind the more "classic" etchings. A few that stand out in my mind are the "Celebrated Hollow Ground," the etching on W&B Bow's and the Wostenholm Pipe etchings. I think the only reason I like these is that they are plain and so common that they just seem to be another characteristic of the razors.
I'm not a big fan of images or fancy text, and I really dislike gold wash.

I like etching, but I don't like washes or platings since they wear out so easily.
Fancy or plain, I think they add something to a razor, to be sure.
