Thread: I don't like these scales, looking for creative ideas.

Personally, i like the pale colour, so i'd stick with something similar. Light horn, as ragnost suggested, ivory from a reclaimed set, bone, go crazy & use mammoth ivory, or if it has to be wood, i'd go with olive.

A nicely grained wood, perhaps, like snakewood?

I agree on the blond horn.

Yeah, I'd use a nice piece of figured maple, either a tiger (flame/curly) or a piece with really fine quilting... other than that, probably a light colored natural material such as bone or horn.
