Thanked: 293Newer Boker vs Vintage
Hi guys... I'm relatively new to the SR scene but I was wondering how a 2nd generation Boker (for example, the King Cutter) stacks up against the vintage originals.
Is it like most things today, in that they "just don't make 'em like they used to"?
Thanks,
Ogie

Thanked: 156I like my vintage king cutter and can't see how the new ones can beat it. Especially can't see them beating the price I paid. $300 for a new razor, thats ridiculous.
But if anyone wants me to write a review, you can lend me a new boker and I'll compare it to the old ones.

I don't know about the bokers but looking at the remaining factory made razors like the TI's and Dovo's though there is nothing wrong with the new ones if you ever shaved with a 7/8s Dovo fritz bracht or Diamond Steel the new ones just don't compare in my opinion.

razor
New ones supposed to be better then old ones. This is true about ti and dovo etc
Now i have never used new boker . I have old ones and they are very nice.
How they make new boker now i don't know .
Let me give a little explanation why i said new ti example should be better.
the only reason is company has been exist forever and they have learned from their mistake to make better blade ,better technology and etc. hope this helps.

Thanked: 156Entropy my friend. Entropy.
Lack of demand from the 1940s until today = all the best and brightest do not become no trained grinders/heat treaters etc.
edit: I offer up a challenge to anyone. Explain what makes a razor awesome and then tell us why the old TI's just didn't quite have it, and why the new ones do. Or vice versa.

Thanked: 293Well.. here's part of the reason why I asked.
This is a fantastic looking razor, and I put a bid in at 50 bucks earlier this morning. Now it's up above $70. I don't know if the potential buyers on the bay know what they're doing, but it looks like this one is going to fetch some nice change. I just didn't know if it was a newer generation because of the great shape it's in.
