Newb halp
Hey guise here are the cliffs:
Tired of buying razors.
Decided to get a straight razor.
Upon the research i've done I would like something like
this but I don't know if it is worth it or good etc.
I stumbled across this site. Point me in the right direction please.
Edit: i need everything. I am looking at this site but not sure if they have jacked up the prices. I appreciate it guise.

Welcome to SRP. Dovos are great blades and Vintage is a reputable firm. Whatever razor you buy, be sure to get it "shave ready". You'll need a strop, a brush, and shave soap. I use a latte mug ($2) for my lather. You can wait on the hones.
There are quite a few nice razors for sale in the classifieds (above). You can find nice, shave ready vintage razors there for considerably less.
Be sure to read the Wiki (above) for good info on str8 shaving and the stickies in the newbies forum. A good investment is Lynn Abrams straight razor DVD, available at Straight Razor Designs and Classic Shaving.

Thanks a lot for the quick replies. I had planned on buying the kit off of the kit off of the vintage website because it just seemed easier but I am glad that I stumbled upon this site. I appreciate the warm welcome and help. I browsed the newb section and have watched several youtube videos. The reason I like the razor pictured above is it pleases me aesthetically but I aloso thought it would be easier to shave straight lines with the blade squared like that (i like sideburns). I will browse the classifieds as well.

That kit comes with quality stuff. The price is fair, and the vendor has a good reputation.
HOWEVER, with a little bit mroe work on your part, a little research here, for the same money, you could probably get higher level stuff purchasing separately. The biggest savings would come from buying a shave-ready razor from teh classifieds here (feel free to ask for help!!), some great soeap, a brush and a strop.
The guys here will be more than happy to help you put this all together. Do some reading here about these things (brush, soap or cream, and strop)....then find a shave-ready razor on the classifieds, post a link, and I promise you'll get input that you'll be happy with.
WELCOME!
