That is a beauty Robert. Love the classic lines and the deep jimps. Bet it will shave like a dream.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 324Thanks, Bud.... Here are some pointers for genuine ivory. It won't have pores in it - bone does. It won't smell like celluloid. It WILL have a grain visible. If it's dirty, it may be very faint or hard to see the grain, but it's there if it's ivory and it won't be uniform. It will vary through the length of the scale. Ivory is slightly flexible, so you can't assume it's not ivory just because it will flex some. The inside of the scales will often have some sort of tooling marks, whether from saw or sanding. The older scales were usually cut quite thin and the less stock removal the better, so marks were generally left in place inside the scale. Ivory polishes to a gorgeous luster and you can't make a mark in it with a fingernail. You can also use a hot pin test on the inside of the scales. Heat up a pin red hot and touch it to a hidden part of the scales inside. Plastics/celluloid will melt/smoke a bit.
Once you know what genuine ivory looks like you'll never guess again. I know of nothing that can duplicate the look and feel of genuine ivory. Oh yes... it will never be true snow or paper white. It's always slightly off white and may have a yellowish/tan cast to it.

WOW...great lines! The jimps are so pronounced and deep, you'd think to hear about it they would be too "Strong "a styling cue to go with the rest of the razor, but they SO work!
Wvery time I see one of these posts, it makes me drool....AND it makes me realize that my name is getting closer and closer to the top of that list!

Truly beautiful work. The spine work and jimps over and under set it off.

Excellent. Love the whole package, but that blade's a jaw dropper.

And thanks for the detailed response regarding how to tell if it's genuine ivory or not!
