    Default Traditional Kamisori Technique

So in my limited experience I have discovered that cream and sop seem too interfere with my ability to use the JStr8.

What did traditional Japanese barbers use for lather. Was it some sort of oil or brushless cream?

The razor seems to cut better without the cream/soap so I am tempted to get an oil.

It is honed well, probably not great but well.

I know that it does shave as good as my other straights.

I know that I need to put it back on the C12k cause there was a spot that I missed with my finger pressure.

I dunno it just seems to shave better with water or a very thin lather.

I have used olive oil alone, did not give any exceptional result.

Even using as pre-shave I find it hard to say yeah or nay on oil of any sort.

I cant be of much help I guess, i just dont use a heavy load of lather, and have settled into using water and or nothing for chasing stubs on second pass for all kamisori and wa kamisori

It's probably more due to the fact that you can determine the angle easier with thin or no lather. Once you get more of a feel for the asymmetrical grind this problem should become moot.
