I always read it as "I excel"

it's a.. um.... don't know what they call those actually

but if you read it fast

    IXL
    sounds like
I Excel (to go forward or be very good at something)

of course this theory was developed while completely ignoring such razors as
    NON XXL

    I DON'T KNOW !!!!!

I'll be glad to find out myself

You will find someone who agrees with you on this web page.

"George Wostenholm was born in Sheffield, England in 800. He came from a family of cutlery makers and was apprenticed as a knife maker to his father, whose name was also George. The firm became George Wostenholm & Son in 1832. Wostenholm was given his own trade mark l*XL (I excel) in 1826. This mark had originally been granted to W A Smith in 1787."

I've heard the same answer, "I excel" from several people on the forums. Makes sense to me.

Non XL is similar, meaning None excel (more than this razor), kind of like second to none.

    oh yeah
    Non XL

I guess you have to say it with a British accent
it's a function of how they pronounce the O in non

    we say aah --- naahn
    they say uh ----nuhn
