Default Union Cutlery Razor Spanish Point HELP

Hey guys I picked this shaver up the other day and man its a real beauty in person. Im really happy with it so far I just need some help on the date and on how to measure straight razors in general.

Its a union cutlery, 11/16 ? How do I measure sizes? Its 11mm wide, hope that helps. Spanish point with faux MOP overlay on the tang. art nouveau on the scales.

I cant find a date for this guy can someone please chime in and let me know. I am going to clean her up. This is as it came in, I think it will make a great little shaver. It also came with a box no lid, but it did have a torn up warranty paper. Thank you

    1/8" = 0,32 cm > this means that 1,1 cm corresponds to 7/16".

It seems to me that that blade is wider than 1,1 cm. I'd say that she's at least 1,4 cm = 9/16". How did you measure it? You should include the spine, measuring the full size from edge to back of the blade.

EDIT: Union Cutlery Co, inc. - Olean, NY - ca. 1927-1937. Check also this page in our SRDB.

I have an almost identical razor. Mine is stamped on the tang "Tidioute, PA". It is very faint and I had to use a magnifier to see it. If yours is similarly marked it was made between 1902 and 1909.

    Regards - Walt

I measured it with calipers, the blade and spine width. It reads 11mm or 1.6 cm so 7/16 ? Maybe the blade appears larger in the picture. I just remeasured it to be sure.

Thank you for the link, it does have a stamp on the tang overlay but it only says, union cutle, olean the rest is worn.

    ..I think I don't understand something.. 11 millimeters or 1.6 centimeters?

11 mm corresponds to 7/16 (something less)
    1.6 cm corresponds to 10/16

Though the box says Union cutlery... is the razor actually manufactured by Union Cutlery?
    What does the tang say?

Sometimes it is confusing depending on who you ask, but different manufacturers measure one of two ways... measure the razor from the edge to the flat spot on the spine (doesn't include the spine) OR from the edge to the back of the spine (include the spine).

I know some Union cutlery razors are measured from edge to the flat spot on the spine and this measurement will be stated on the original box.

I agree the boxes are never the way to go about who makes it. I have 10 or so boxes all with mismatched razors. The union cutlery is stamped in to the faux MOP overlay on the tang. I looked over the box but I couldn't find a size on it perhaps it was on the lid of the bod which I do not have. I measured including the spine and edge. Thank you for your help. I am also getting a real camera very soon to take better photographs for future help. The ones shown are from a cell phone.
