Value of a razor I just located
Hey guys,
I was thinking about picking this up to either hang on to, or possibly sell to raise a few bucks to buy a different razor. Anyways, it's for sale locally. I was wondering if someone might have an idea of it's value?
This is the info I have on it:
Offered is a unique antique straight razor by Wade & Butcher of
Sheffield, England. The blade of this particular razor appears
to have been etched commemorating Admiral George Dewey's
victory in 1898 at Manila Bay in the Philippines, during the Spanish-
American war.
Though somewhat discolored, the blade is still sharp and usable.
The handle (Bakelite?) is also in excellent condition. The razor
comes in its original embossed slipcase, which is still in good
condition, considering its age.

I wouldn't pay more than 30 to 50 tops. I am certain someone would be willing to pay double that.

How much is the seller asking for this razor?

The asking price is $100, but I he might be flexible. I think the engraving is pretty neat...but it's a long drive from my house to go get it. I wasn't sure if it was worth $100...

Thanked: 259from what i have seen and purchased on ebay, it is a little costly. that being said, it would make a nice part of a collection. the blade seems to have some bad scratches and would take time to get it looking good again.

I'd say that on ebay she could go for $35-65.

Honestly, I'd go no higher than 20 for that one. If you were to get the scratches out of that, you'd probably lose the etching. Unless you REALLY like it, I'd pass and keep looking for a nice WB in the classifieds.

Thanked: 124That price seems really high to me also. The only way I could really see it going for that much is if there was alot of interest from collectors of war or Spanish-American war memorabilia. But if you really like it, and its worth 100$ to you, then go for it. I'd still try to talk the guy down some, though.
