    Default Tragedy strikes

While stationed in Germany in 1972, I bought a fairly ordinary razor, a 5/8 round point Dovo with a blade marked "English Razor" and the tang stamped with "Made from Kayser Ellison & Co's Best Sheffield Silver Steel". I was pretty fond of that razor.

It got dropped, a dime-sized chunk is out of the blade.

    Where can another be found?

bummer, i guess on auction sites like ebay.
kayser ellison was gone somewhere in the 60s-70s i believe (merged with something else), so Dovo can't get steel from them anymore even if they wanted to.

The scales on mine are a a different stye, but the blade is identical (except for the missing chunk) to the one pictured in that auction. It may have been an inexpensive razor, but it shaved well, held a nice edge. I wish I had seen that listing a month ago!

Glad your persistence finally paid off. Good looking razor. It's not often you hear the final outcome so long after the initial post.

The scales are a striated plastic. The camera sort of gives them an imitation wood grain appearance. They are slick, smooth and handsome enough in their own right. It was not a particularly high end razor at the time, but certainly had nice features and shaved well. Three crosspins, jimps top and bottom, and a nice blade etching. This one shaves as well as the old one did and will be a regular in the rotation.
