In need of advice!
As I mentioned a couple of months before, I'm going to Italy in late sep.
The plan was to order a custom Livi from the man himself. And then visit him to pick up the razor.
However.........
Due to a tight economi right now, I cannot justify to spend that amount on a razor. It really really sucks!!!!! But food on the table comes first right?
I have even been emailing with the maestros son to find out what kind of blade I want and sofourth..
The only sane way to raise that kind of cash right now would be to sell my entire lot of straights.I have several special ones, like a nos " Gold Bug", a couple of Ducks and a unique Friodur...
For those of you bastards that own a Livi, would you recomend the sell all my babies to get one? Is it wourth it...
Frustrated!

save your razor's. make visit to M.Livi he may give to you as a gift one
of his razor's . later when you have money you can pay him or order new blade.
Doesn't matter you will buy from him or not just visit and see what he has is worth everything.long ways from usa to Italy.
don't forget take a pictures. gl

I have more than one custom Livi as well as vintage razors. The Livis are wonderful razors but I wouldn't give up the vintage razors for one Livi even if it was better than all of the rest. The economy won't be down forever. Have patience and the day will come when you can in good conscience buy your Livi.
Edit: As good as it is I'm not saying it is better than all of them BTW.Last edited by JimmyHAD; 06-25-2009 at 05:48 PM.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I was in a similar situation recently when the time came to pay for my RW. Circumstances have changed a little since i ordered it! I decided to sell a few choice shaving items to cover it. One of which was my beloved DePews. It was a tough decision!
I wouldn't sell off a whole collection just for one blade though. Maybe ask what you want for a few. If they go they go, if not, you might have to wait.
Good luck coming up with a plan!

See if Livi offers any sort of financing or layaway programs.
Whereabouts in Italy are you going? Planned stops or just traveling the country as you please?

Thank you guys.I guess you are right...
That Gold Bug was darn hard to get....
Feel kind of stupid visiting him without buying tough.
I will be sure to take pictures, and post them hi bud.
We are renting a house in Bologna, I guess we will be renting a car and visit lots of different places.Looking forward to it!!!

Thanked: 234I think you made the right decision to keep what you have, I don't think there is anything wrong with going and seeing him, explain the situation - it's not like you never intend to buy one.

That sounds like an awesome trip. Not to get off topic but I went to Rome, Florence and Venice a few years back, and Bologna is right next to Tuscany. Of the places I've been, Florence was by far the best city. Highly recommended.
Good luck getting a Livi and I'll be interested in any pictures/video as well.
