My "new" IMPERIAL...any thoughts?
I received today this razor, which was advertised as a "Filarmonica Imperial", altough I very much doubt its connection with Filarmonica, but looks a decent razor anyway, has anybody any more info on this "Imperial" brand?
As to restore it, looking at the pics: is it worth it? Would it be a question of just polish & hone, or is the blade not good already?
Thanks and best regards
Carlos

You do have a bit of a frown there that you'll will almost certainly want to hone out. As to polishing, the extent that you want to do that is totally up to you. I would say start light (MAAS or some very fine steel wool are my starting points) and see how she looks.

With "Imperial" brand we have some problems with identification.
First, it's not connected to Spanish Filarmonica.
Second, it's not from Sheffield. I couldn't find this logo in Sheffield's Imprial makers.
So, there were "Imperials" in Germany and USA. In USA it's still working(Rhode Island).
I think, it's American Imperial and I'll try to proof it.Alex Ts.

Thanked: 235It has quite a frown, but that should hone out. I think you should be able to get this one shaving well, but I don't know how pritty it will be.

Many thanks to all for the dvices, I may try to clean it and then send it for honing and probable replace the scales, it may make a decent shaver after all.
The "confusion" with Fillis may como from the fact it is marked "14", as the popular Filarmonica model, iI have read in this forum this was a common practice from all Filarmonica's competitors....
Thanks again and best regards
