Thread: Utopian's Honing

So I think this goes here, but not sure. Mod's you decide.

I just got three razors back from Utopian. Two were NOS Solingens, and they now shave like nothing I have ever used before. One was a Jo Rodgers with a nick and lots of corrosion. It now no longer has a nick, and shaves very well, but not yet to my tastes I think (wedge vs. hollow).

So not only are the razors ungodly sharp at a VERY reasonable price, it seems the spot of corrosion on the one solingen magically disappeared, and the Jo Rodgers seems to have reground and buffed itself... interesting.

I just tried my Genco I sent Utopian for a honing! I am totally a noob so this is the first straight I have tried so I have nothing to compare it to, but he did an EXCELLENT Job! The parts that I shaved had no irritation at all even though I am sure my technique is poor! When I got my blade angle correct the razor just glided smoothly! My alum block did not even sting.

THANK YOU Utopian... Total satisfaction. And might I add it was back to me in a very reasonable timeframe 1 1/2 weeks, I think! Very fast IMHO!

I sent a str8 to Utopian that he did a complete evalution on and also a complete honing job, gratis I might add, and it came back with an edge as smooth as silk and sticky[in the good way] as caramel!! Finally shaved with it yesterday and I must say, if any of you out there has a need for a first class Honsmith, Utopian is your fellow!! Absolutaly first class shave, only 1 nick and guess who's fault THAT WAS!![no, it was mine].

I am still waiting on my razor which I sent to Utopian in May. I will comment on his skills once I get the razor back. I am sure he will do a good job.
