    Smile ERN razor

I am new to straight razors and I was wondering what you guys thought about this razor. How much work would it be to get it shave ready?

    Thanks for all your help

ERN's are nice razors. This one in particular "looks" to be in nice shape, right at 5/8, and very sexy, with the thumb notch. The pics are pretty good, and it's being sold by someone that knows nothing about straights, so you won't get much educated help from the seller. My best "guess" is that that this will go for somewhere north of $50, but EVERYTHING I've said so far is a guess. It should cost you around $25 for one of the honemeisters from this site to get it shave ready for you. You are taking a bit of a chance with this razor, but it may be worth it for you. As I said, it is one sexy looking razor, and it really doesn't look like it needs much work other than a bit of polish and honing, but you have a small number of pics from a seller that may be unable/unmotivated to answer questions that a seller from this forum's classifieds could and would.

The safest thing to do for your first razor is to buy something that pops up in the classifieds here for $35-$60 that is from someone that knows straights, knows how it shaves and has it shave ready. But safe is not always the fun thing to do when you have a razor pulling at your heart strings. I think you would come out okay with the ERN in the $50 range, but again, that's a guess.

Anyway, good luck, maybe someone will give some better advice because this forum is full of HIGHLY knowledgeable, fine folks. They won't even try to steal this out from under you! More than anything, welcome, keep reading and asking questions, and don't shave with anything until someone that knows what they are doing makes it shave ready! We want your first experience to be a good one!

    Smile Thanks for the suggestion

I think you made a good point about going for a shave ready razor from a trusted member of this site. I will have to do a little more research and hit up the classifieds. Thanks for your quick response and sharing your experience. I think i will pass on this razor for now, so if anyone is interested it is up for grabs.
    Thanks again,
    Kyle

This one would be a nice razor if it's still available. It's not a round point, but it's not an extreme spike either, and at a VERY good price for what it is.

I honestly can't believe this one is still here. I think people have forgotten about it, because it too is a nice one.

If you don't like these, something will come up soon!
