Ebay impulse buy..Wostenholm frameback
OK, all the talk of these Wostenholms today got me to do a quick bay search.
With three minutes left, I was only only bidder (usually tells me I shouldn't be buying something) for a Wostenholm frameback. It has a good deal of rust, we'll see how it polishes up. I'll probably try to remove what I can, hone it, and if it shaves well, send it out for a real restore. The edge looks like it should be OK....I think. We'll see about that pivot area.
For 56 bucks shipped, and with a "freebie" other razor that I barely even looked at, (the Clauss edge looks like there might be edge rust...might make a bread-knife hone experiment razor) who knows, it might not have even been too stupid....

Fine frameback, you'll clean it simply. The strong rust is not present.

Congrats on a nice score. Nice stub tail! It really doesn't look too bad and with just a little cleaning it should be fine or you can restore it back to 'new'.
CarrieM brings some in from time to time that I would avoid. A lot of times I am surprised at how fast I can bring them back to life. I think she does that to keem me busy and away from buying others.“If you always do what you always did, you will always get what you always got.” (A. Einstein)

Thanked: 132Yeah, i think the framebacks are worth a bit of extra work, if required. They are fun shavers.

I've had two Wosty's like that. I really like the style and they do shave great. Unfortunately, I didn't really like the way they felt in my hand. Clausses also have an excellent reputation. If you're going to clean those blades up, I think they're well worth the price tag.

I'm going to hone them and see how they shave. If they are both worth saving (the Wosty seems it...the clauss might be hurtin'), I might send them out for the full Spa treatment at one of our esteeemd restorers.

That is a nice frameback and no rust near the edge. That is what I look for. If there is pitting around the edge you have to worry about holes in the bevel once you hone it if the pitting is deep enough. Not an issue with the Wosty.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
