Landers, Frary and Clark vs Wostenholm
I am curious about the origin and date of a Peerless model razor that I
recently picked up. It is virtually identical to this one in the database(Wostenholm, George & Son "Peerless" 9/16 - Straight Razor Place Wiki) except it is stamped Landers Frary and Clark (New Britain, Conneticut). It is also identical to the bottom pic in this ad from Lynn this (http://straightrazorpalace.com/buy-s...sale-lynn.html) which is also stamped Landers, Frary and Clark. I understand that prior to the Tariff act of 1930 in the USA a product marketed in the US did not have to indicate country of origin and I suspect landers Frary and Clark may have imported and sold this razor from Wostenholm under their name without showing country of origin. I also understand from the Wostenholm biography (www.tilthanmmer.com/bio/wost.html) that Wostenholm marketed many of their products in the US prior to the turn of the century, but that their US market was all but dried up by 1900. So... what I am thinking is that the Landers, Frary and Clark Peerless is most likely a Wostenholm Peerless, made prior to 1930, and possibly prior to 1900. Any thoughts?

Stop. I think you have confused all... Or I have not understood.
Landers, Frary and Clark is not connected with Wostenholm. These are two different companies. Only the same razor name "Peerless".
The 1891 Madrid Trade Accords required the country of origin be on the item not just the city where it was manufactured.Alex Ts.

OK. But... Since the Peerless offered by both companies looks identical, and the engraved Peerless logo on the blade and artwork is identical, either on company made both, or one is a direct knock off of the other which would have no doubt irritated the original manufacturer to no end...

They are similar, but this say nothing.
There is not information about any connections Wostenholm in Sheffield with Landers, Frary & Clark in New Britain, Connecticut.
