Love the videos.
Thanks for bringing them to us.
These films made me think about how we can't get any work done here in the states due to safety regulations. You can't beat that equal opportunity employment!

Thanked: 488It looks like the TI place is older and a bit more handwork goes into them. Does anybody else get that from the videos?

Thanks a lot. I've seen these before but hadn't been able to track them down since. For an aspiring razor maker, this is very helpful.

Yep great videos... interesting to watch.
I marvel at how quickly a blade blank can be pounded out.
When I look at a turn of the century (1880-1929) blade
I imagin how many the factories were pounding out.
Some worthy razors with tang stamps from hither
and yon may all have the same orign with only minor final
finishing touches setting one from another.

I came across an old document in Google Books about a year ago, a transcript of a Congressional hearing about putting a tariff on German-made razors. This was about 1910. The complaint was the Germans blades were cheaper because of low labor prices there, and that they were being imported with faint markings that importers would grind off and replace with their own brand marks. With the 300-or-so vintage blades I've handled so far, about a third are made in Solingen (one was from Prussia) or simply "Germany" but have an American brand imprint on the front of the tang.

Why is it that the Dovo video shows the blade passing the HHT but are always said to be not shave ready from the packet is this a false video or just very old?
Saved,
to shave another day.
